Inter-America to Hold its Largest Leadership Training Conference
July 6, 2017 | Miami, Florida, United States | Libna Stevens/IAD
Hundreds of Seventh-day Adventist leaders from across the Inter-American Division (IAD) will gather in Miami, Florida, next week to attend the largest territory-wide leadership training conference ever organized. More than 600 church administrators, pastors, educators, elders, department directors and officers will sharpen their skills during the three-day event, coined as the Segment Leadership Development (SeLD) Conference, from July 10-12, 2017.
“We have recognized that there is need for a greater number of trained individuals fulfilling leadership roles within the organization in order for these organizations to effectively fulfill the mission,” says Pastor Balvin Braham, assistant to the president in charge of leadership development for the church in Inter-America.
Part of the leadership strategy in the IAD is to help leaders zoom-in on what they must do to be an effective leaders and how to do it well, explains Braham.
“The SeLD Conference is intended for leaders to be able to not only listen to and glean information from effective leaders, but also able to network and form partnerships, so they are able to connect with and be impacted by seasoned experts and leaders.”
The event will feature more than 25 speakers from the Adventist World Church and the IAD during plenary sessions and more than 35 seminars on ethical leadership, transparency and accountability, strategic planning, organizational leadership, conflict resolution, human resources development, administrative skills, church management and more.
According to Pastor Braham, most of those attending the conference have been selected by their organizations and sponsored to attend, while there are also some who are paying their own way to attend the event.
Registration for SeLD Conference begins July 10, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Miami Time). Opening Ceremony begins at 6:45 p.m. Sessions for July 11 and 12 run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
