The city of La Romana in southeast Dominican Republic yesterday declared it will rename one of its streets after Ellen G. White, one of the founders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The announcement came during a special ceremony held at La Romana’s municipal building. In attendance were the mayor, Maritza Suero, city officials, and Seventh-day Adventist world church President Ted N. C. Wilson.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church’s 29 top leaders traded their laptops and cell phones for paintbrushes and shovels on Wednesday as they constructed a church building—some for the first time—on the Caribbean island of the Dominican Republic.
Ted N.C. Wilson, president of the Adventist Church’s General Conference, led the group of division presidents, general vice presidents and other senior church administrators in taking a break from a weeklong business meeting to assist in the project in the town of La Romana.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Dominican Republic concluded one of its largest evangelistic efforts ever held in the capital city of Santo Domingo last night. Thousands of people traveling in scores of buses came together at Palacio de los Deportes stadium to listen to Evangelist Mark Finley present the message of hope from Jan. 7-11, 2015.
The five-day evangelistic series themed “New Year New Life” drew more than 14,000 every night and gathered thousands more across the island who watched the series on the online in local churches, in homes, or listened on their radios

Seventh-day Adventists from Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, grabbed their cleaning and painting supplies last month to transform the home of Ella Mae Powery, 73, a resident of the West Bay Community.
The group of church members from the Berea and Bethel Adventist churches jumped at the chance to clean up and repair Powery’s house after the Radical Youth Ministry group visited her during a recent outreach activity.

Thousands of Seventh-day Adventists in El Salvador gathered at Estadio Cuscatlan, or Cuscatlan Stadium, in San Salvador, on Nov. 28-29, 2014, to celebrate the end of evangelistic series which swept through the Central American country last month.
More than 600 buses transported church members and new believers to witness a special program featuring John Carter, a Seventh-day Adventist evangelist and host of the “Carter Report” ministries. The special program, held Nov. 21-27, concluded the evangelistic effort in El Salvador, which included 93 campaigns.

An Adventist church choir in Jamaica saved the life of an accused robber who sought refuge from a mob that killed one of his friends, a local church leader said Thursday.
The unidentified suspect ran into the Harrison Adventist Church in the city of Montego Bay after being chased by an angry crowd that accused him and three friends of robbing and stabbing a woman in a nearby shopping district on Tuesday night, said Glen O. Samuels, president of the Adventist Church’s West Jamaica Conference.

Preparing children and adolescents for leadership in the church is something that Seventh-day Adventist Church leaders in North Colombia take seriously as dozens of youngsters across the region participated in a talent showcase in Medellin, Colombia, on Nov. 1, 2014.
The annual competition brought children and adolescents from across local churches in the seven regional fields in North Colombia to demonstrate their knowledge of biblical doctrines, and to preach and sing in front of a large congregation at Colombia Adventist University’s Auditorium.

Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas Perry G. Christie praised the work of the Adventist Church for its positive role in the areas of education, youth and health, as he spoke to church leaders and members at the Hillview Adventist Church in Nassau, The Bahamas, on Nov. 2, 2014.

Students at the Chester Primary School in the Parish of St. Ann, in Jamaica are hailing a school-feeding program that sees the Seventh-day Adventist Church providing meals for the students twice per week.
The program, which began in April at the government-run school of some 86 students, was inspired by Adventists who wanted to do something for the children attending school without breakfast in the Chester rural community.
