Top leadership in Inter-America sets aside special time for spiritual reflection

Top Seventh-day Adventist leaders, staff members and their families at the Inter-American Division (IAD) headquarter office set aside a week of spiritual reflection as the church’s five-year period draws to a close this summer.

The week of spiritual emphasis brought more than 80 church employees and their families to praise and worship together during the annual event held in Miami, Florida, from June 13-18, 2015.

First Researchers’ Congress draws administrators and educators from across IAD Adventist universities

Academic vice presidents, research directors and professors from Seventh-day Adventist universities in the Inter-American Division (IAD) met to discuss and promote a culture of research across its 14 universities during the first Researchers’ Congress held in the territory.

The congress gathered more than two dozen administrators and educators at Antillean Adventist University in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, May 19-20, 2015.

Church members in Inter-America among the most generous around the world

“The church member in Inter-America is doubly generous than the average member around the world church.”

Those were the words of Inter-American Division’s (IAD) Treasurer Filiberto Verduzco, as he began his financial report to executive committee members gathered for the church’s annual business meetings in Miami, Florida, held this week.

Church leaders review ordination issue, growth and vote initiatives

Day two of the church’s business meetings saw executive committee members from across the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America reviewing a brief history of the latest findings of the church’s Theology of Ordination Study Committee on the issue of women’s ordination.

More than 100 top church leaders also took the time to vote on upcoming initiatives and activities during meetings in Miami, Florida, yesterday.

Inter-America, Church leaders begin business meetings by reflecting on the last five years

Top Seventh-day Adventist leaders from across Inter-America began their business meetings today by reflecting on God’s blessings and the continued growth across the territory during the last five-year period.

The meetings, held in Miami, Florida, carried a spiritual tone of thanksgiving as top leaders participated in scripture readings, songs of praise, inspired statements and prayer sessions.

In Inter-America, church recognizes the work of two outstanding theologians

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America, together with its Inter-American Theological Seminary (IATS), recognized two of its outstanding theologians during a brief award ceremony yesterday, in Miami, Florida.

Dr. Angel Manuel Rodriguez, originally from Puerto Rico, who retired five years ago from the church’s Biblical Research Institute at the Adventist World Church in Silver Spring, Maryland, was honored with an Award of Excellence in Theological and Ministerial Education for dedicating decades of his life to ministerial education, contributed to theological reflection, motivated others to generate research of serious study and articulated in-depth but accessible ideas.

In Inter-America, Super Bible Boom winner becomes youth delegate to the church’s upcoming General Conference Session

It took a total of 10:07 minutes for Waylon Johnson of the Atlantic Caribbean Union to answer 50 Bible questions and become the winner of Inter-America’s 2010-2015 Super Bible Boom competition yesterday.

With the win, Johnson will get to travel as an official delegate to the Adventist World Church’s 60th General Conference Session to be held in San Antonio, Texas, this July.

In Inter-America, Church leadership inaugurates new wing at headquarters

Top church leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America inaugurated a new southwest wing office and storage complex at its headquarter office in Miami, Florida, during a special ceremony yesterday.

Dozens of top leaders from across the church in the Inter-American Division (IAD) territory witnessed the special dedication, which took place during pre-meetings of the church’s executive committee meetings which begin this week.

Youth ministries to wrap up five-year study of Bible with Super Bible Boom event

Inter-America’s Youth Ministries Department will wrap up its largest Bible reading final competition event in Miami, Florida, in less than three months.

The event, coined as Inter-America’s Super Bible Boom, will take place on May 9, 2015, and will feature the top four Bible Boom winners from the previous final competitions since 2011. Top winners will get a chance to grab the top prize of becoming a youth delegate representing the Inter-American Division (IAD) during the church’s upcoming General Conference Session in San Antonio, Texas, in July.

Church leaders speak to 1,500 employed ministers still pending ordination

Top Seventh-day Adventist leaders in Inter-America sent a clear message to some 1,500 ministers who are not yet ordained and who oversee hundreds of congregations: continue your efforts in preparing a people for eternity.

The message was delivered during a two-hour special program streamed live over the internet earlier today from the Inter-American Division headquarters in Miami, Florida.
