The Seventh-day Adventist Church in North Mexico pledged support for church members affected by the earthquakes in the country and those affected by the hurricanes which hit the Caribbean territory this month.
During a special video message, Pastor Luis Arturo King, president of the church in North Mexico, called upon the membership of more than 150,000 to join in prayer and give a day’s worth of salary to those left homeless recently.

As heavy rains and winds from Hurricane Maria hit the east coast of the Dominican Republic on Sep. 21, 2017, a handful of master guides from two Adventist churches in Hato Mayor were busy rescuing dozens of people, including children and the elderly.
“We lived through a terrible experience,” said Luis Ismael Berroa, a master guide from the El Renacer Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hato Mayor. More than 100 people had already taken refuge at the church, but as water began to fill the building, they had to climb walls and fences to get to safety.

Seventh-day Adventist leaders in Puerto Rico are finally beginning to connect with those around them after Hurricane Maria plowed through the island on Sep. 20, 2017. The Category 4 storm brought winds of up to 155 mph that killed 10 people, knocked down power lines and cellphone towers, flooded streets, and disrupted the infrastructure of the entire island like never before.

Hours after a powerful 7.1 earthquake struck Mexico City on Tuesday, Sep. 19, toppling dozens of buildings and homes and killing hundreds, Seventh-day Adventists sprung into action to assist in the recovery effort.
Top church leaders said no loss of life among church members has been reported so far. The earthquake took place on the 32nd anniversary of the powerful earthquake that hit Mexico City, killing more than 10,000 people in 1985.

Ten Union in Inter-America have been battered or are under threat by natural disasters which have lashed across various islands and countries during the last few weeks.
From the very beginning, we have been in direct communication with local church leaders to get acquainted with the specific needs and help our church members to the best of our abilities. We have been informed of major damages in homes, schools, and church buildings. Losses amount to millions of US dollars. The saddest news, however, is that some people lost their lives.

Nearly a week after Hurricane Irma swept through dozens of islands in the Caribbean on Sep. 6 and 7, killing more than a dozen people and flattening buildings and homes, the Seventh-day Adventist Church is still trying to account for all of its members. No fatalities among church members have been reported yet.

Seventh-day Adventists in Mexico are still reeling from the massive destruction caused by an 8.2-magnitude earthquake, which hit the southern coast of Mexico late on Sep. 7, killing dozens of people, flattening homes and buildings, and leaving thousands homeless.
It has been reported as the strongest quake to hit Mexico in a century. The epicenter was near the states of Chiapas and Oaxaca but felt as far away as Mexico City.
Top church leaders in the affected regions reported four members dead and many more hospitalized.

As Hurricane Irma makes its way west toward the U.S. State of Florida today, the Seventh-day Adventist Church across Inter-America is still waiting to assess damage to the worst-hit islands in the Caribbean. The category 5 hurricane is responsible for 14 deaths, destruction, and leaving thousands homeless. So far, no loss of life among Seventh-day Adventists has been reported, according to top church leaders.

Dozens of eager Seventh-day Adventists from across Cuba and Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean convened for the Adventist Photographers Conference last weekend at the Cárdenas Adventist Church in Cárdenas, Matanzas, Cuba.
The event, a first-of its-kind sponsored by the Inter-American Division’s (IAD) Communication department in collaboration with the top church leadership in Cuba, brought training to the more than 80 in attendance. The goal was to teach the participants how to become more creative with visual communication in fulfilling the mission in their local churches and communities.
