In Inter-America, Parents Are the Real Heroes Sending Their Children to the Pathfinder Camporee

“A pathfinder camporee is a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” says Thais Erazo, a single mother of two from Venezuela who has done the impossible to make sure her 13 and 15 year-old sons could take part in Inter-America’s fourth territory-wide pathfinder camporee in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Erazo, a business professor at the Venezuela Adventist University in Nirgua, West Venezuela, always dreamed of attending a camporee so she began raising funds two years ago. With the devaluation of currency in Venezuela, the costs of three airplane seemed impossible.

Thousands Set Up Camp in Santo Domingo for Inter-America’s Territory-Wide Pathfinder Camporee

Thousands of Seventh-day Adventist young campers and their leaders began setting up camp and rolling out their sleeping bags in anticipation for Inter-America’s Pathfinder Camporee set to begin in less than 24 hours at Mirador del Este Park, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Adventists Appeal Court Ruling on Kellogg Sabbath Accommodation Case

On March 22, 2017, two former Kellogg employees made their appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit after a lower court found insufficient evidence that the two Adventist plaintiffs were treated unfairly when they were fired for failing to work on Sabbath. A decision from the court of appeals, located in Denver, Colorado, is expected in approximately three months.

Adventist Church signs Memorandum of Understanding with French National Academy of Medicine

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in North Mexico, which has spearheaded the “I Want to Live Healthy” initiative across churches, schools and communities in North Mexico and other countries, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the French National Academy of Medicine. The memorandum was signed at the headquarters of the French National Academy of Medicine, in Paris, France, on Mar. 17, 2017.

ADRA Responds to Victims of Recent Landslides in Colombia

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) in Colombia is providing assistance to the victims of the devastating landslides that killed 273 people in the southern part of the country last week. Hundreds more were injured and about 2,000 were displaced.

Heavy rain caused three rivers in Mocoa, Putumayo, to overflow causing landslides, which, in addition to the human casualties, destroyed homes and bridges.

In Inter-America, Adventist Church celebrates growth in Mexico during satellite program

Thousands of Seventh-day Adventists in Veracruz, Mexico, celebrated the culmination of intense evangelistic efforts during a live satellite event from the city of Minatitlán, last weekend.

A crowd of about 8,000 filled the Minatitlán Convention Center on Sabbath, April 1, to worship, witness the transformation of new believers and recommit to nurturing them into the life of the church. Another four sites gathering over 30,000 believers across the Inter-Oceanic Mexican Union held hundreds of baptisms on the same day. More than 6,000 were baptized in the region during the day.

Inter-America to Reaffirm Reliance on EGW Writings During Live Stream Event

The top leadership of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America will highlight the value of the gift of prophecy to the church with its first Spirit of Prophecy live program this Saturday, April 8, 2017.

The seminar presentations during the three-hour live event, themed “Believe His Prophets”, will fill a great need in the field for information about Ellen G. White’s ministry, church leaders said. White was a co-founder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Inter-America to Celebrate Evangelism Efforts through Annual Satellite Event from Mexico

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America will hold its annual baptismal celebration this Sabbath with a special live satellite event from Minatitlán, Veracruz, Mexico.

The live event, coined as “Lord Transform Me”, will be the culmination of a six-month-long evangelism effort by thousands of pastors and active church members across the Inter-American Division (IAD) territory.

President of Colombia Helps a 4th Grade Adventist Student With Her Homework

Eight-year-old Gabriela Rico, a student at the Libertad de Barrancabermeja Adventist School in Barancabermeja, Colombia, recently needed to complete a social studies assignment that would detail the accomplishments of the nation’s president. So she went online to contact Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos.
