In Inter-America, Church Leaders and Pastors Are Challenged to Focus on Retention of Members

Seventh-day Adventist Church leaders in the Inter-American Division (IAD) territory want to make sure that when a new believer joins one its 21,000 congregations, he or she will be spiritually nurtured, discipled, and become actively involved in the life of the church.

The message was loud and clear during a special retention conference held yesterday for ministers, evangelists, and active members, as thousands of evangelistic campaigns are wrapping up across the IAD territory this week.

In a first, 25 deaf people are baptized in Burundi

Twenty-five deaf people were baptized in the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s first deaf baptisms in Burundi as church members step up efforts to share the gospel with the hearing impaired across East Africa.

A total of 27 people were baptized during a joyous ceremony at the Kamenge Seventh-day Adventist Church in Burundi’s capital, Bujumbura, on March 25. In addition to the 25 deaf people, the baptismal candidates included a blind person and a hearing person.

Adventist School Involved in Archaeological Project with Biblical Implications

A Seventh-day Adventist school archaeology center will be directly involved in the development of a long-planned, state-of-the-art museum in an ancient town with biblical significance. Douglas Clark, director of the Center for Near Eastern Archaeology Center in La Sierra University, an Adventist-operated school in Riverside, California, United States, recently signed on a grant that will launch the project in the Jordanian town of Madaba.

Guyana President Calls Adventists to Strengthen Family Values

The president of Guyana attended a special rededication service at a Seventh-day Adventist church in the capital city of Georgetown on March 19, as part of a week-long celebration of the 130th anniversary of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the country.

During the service at the refurbished Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, President David Granger, addressed members and visitors, urging them to help strengthen the institution of the family, reported the Ministry of the Presidency of the South-American nation.

In Inter-America, Adventist youth engage in community impact during Global Youth Day

Thousands of Seventh-day Adventist young people from across the Inter-American Division stretched out their arms to donate blood, lend a hand, and spread cheer and hope in their communities during the church’s Global Youth Day event on Mar. 18, 2017.

Sponsored by the Adventist world church’s youth ministries department, Global Youth Day engaged millions of Adventist youth from around the world to give blood and “Be the Sermon” as they portrayed the love of Jesus in their cities and communities.
