The dark night made it difficult to see the 450 listeners as all of them rose from their plastic chairs arranged in an open field. Some were coming forward to the wooden stage in response to the message that evening. As I watched the young and old starting to gather in the dusty dry clearing, my eye was drawn to an older gentleman led by the hand by a young lady. He was blind. We prayed for this newly committed group that God would keep them and build them up in the faith as we continued to study God’s Word night after night.

Sabbath School teachers who serve in more than 22,000 churches and congregations all across the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America were reaffirmed of their vital role in discipling students and members during an online event held on Feb. 24, 2018.
The six-hour Sabbath School Online Congress event, which took place in Miami, Florida, celebrated the culmination of thousands of certification trainings, which began early in 2016, and highlighted the purpose of the school in the life of the church.

“It’s possible to be a very unhealthy vegetarian,” said Harvard School of Public Health Researcher Frank Hu in his keynote address “Plant-based diet for personal, population, and planetary health.” Hu made this and other ear-catching remarks on February 26, 2018, the opening day of the Seventh International Congress on Vegetarian Nutrition in Loma Linda, California, United States. The event gathered more than 800 nutrition and health professionals from 34 countries for three days of scientific presentations, Q&A sessions, discussions, cooking demonstrations, and networking opportunities.

The General Conference (GC) Unity Oversight Committee recently provided the following update to members of the GC Executive Committee through its Executive Committee Newsletter. The General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists is comprised of 13 world divisions and one attached field.
The process of gathering qualitative and quantitative data from the world church is currently underway. Last month, surveys were sent to all division and union presidents, and to the president of the attached field.

I first heard Billy Graham preach in Boston in October of 1964 when I was a freshman theology student at Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, Massachusetts. I was deeply impressed with the simplicity of his Biblical message and the profound impact it had on his audience. Conservative New Englanders are skeptical of appeals that play on the emotions and can readily detect hypocrisy or showmanship.

Top Seventh-day Adventist leaders across the Inter-American Division (IAD) have taken a hard look this week at finding a way to reach more believers with the truth of the gospel throughout the territory. The goal is for the growth of the church to keep on a straight upward path.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America will hold a territory-wide Sabbath School Congress event from its headquarters office in Miami, Florida, on Saturday, February 24, 2018. The live online event will focus on the mission of the Sabbath School, its role of discipling members to deepen a closer relationship with God, its function as an outreach ministry in the community and its impact in the lives of its members in readiness for eternal life, organizers said.

Since hurricanes Irma and Maria wreaked havoc on several educational institutions in the Virgin Islands, many schools have had to relocate their students. Thomas/St. John Seventh-day Adventist School, located in St. Thomas, lost 80 percent of its roof, suffered damaged walls, and chairs, desks, and computers were destroyed.

Thousands of local church elders across the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America celebrated their completion of a special certification during an online program held at the Inter-American Division (IAD) Headquarters in Miami, Florida, on Feb. 17, 2018.
The event was part of a comprehensive certification training strategy aimed at equipping church elders to better nurture and disciple members throughout the more than 22,000 churches and congregations in the IAD.
