In Inter-America, Church leadership inaugurates new wing at headquarters

Top church leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America inaugurated a new southwest wing office and storage complex at its headquarter office in Miami, Florida, during a special ceremony yesterday.

Dozens of top leaders from across the church in the Inter-American Division (IAD) territory witnessed the special dedication, which took place during pre-meetings of the church’s executive committee meetings which begin this week.

Youth ministries to wrap up five-year study of Bible with Super Bible Boom event

Inter-America’s Youth Ministries Department will wrap up its largest Bible reading final competition event in Miami, Florida, in less than three months.

The event, coined as Inter-America’s Super Bible Boom, will take place on May 9, 2015, and will feature the top four Bible Boom winners from the previous final competitions since 2011. Top winners will get a chance to grab the top prize of becoming a youth delegate representing the Inter-American Division (IAD) during the church’s upcoming General Conference Session in San Antonio, Texas, in July.

In El Salvador, church celebrates training of members in auditing of membership books

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in El Salvador recently celebrated the training success of hundreds of its leaders and members who have been auditing the church books across hundreds of local churches in the country.

More than 1,700 secretarial team members from all 708 churches gathered at the Centro Internacional de Ferias y Convenciones in San Salvador to participate in a special festival highlighting the many strides achieved in membership auditing in every church region.

In Puerto Rico, hundreds of communicators challenged to become creative disciples in their communities

More than 350 communicators from throughout the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Puerto Rico gathered last weekend to broaden their knowledge in communication and technology.

The event was the third annual territory-wide certification program organized by the church in East Puerto Rico to equip communicators with 30 hours of training.

Puerto Rico begins to raise big money for Nepal

Shockwaves from Nepal’s powerful earthquake reached as far as the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, whose Seventh-day Adventist community has a special connection with the south Asian country.

Within days of the April 25 earthquake, Adventist leaders in Puerto Rico responded by calling two news conferences to raise funds for Adventist-operated Scheer Memorial Hospital, whose chief medical officer and administrator, Fernando Cardona, is a Puerto Rican native.

Busy month takes Adventist leader from Easter Island to Zimbabwe

Adventist Church leader Ted N.C. Wilson has embarked on a South American tour that will see him speak 26 times in 11 days as he attends baptisms, parades, and building inaugurations from Peru to Easter Island.

The frenetic pace will keep up after the trip ends. Days after returning to Adventist world church headquarters in the U.S., Wilson will depart for a two-week evangelistic series in Zimbabwe.

Adventist Church in Hungary reconciles with breakaway group after 40 years

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hungary and a breakaway group of hundreds of former Adventists has agreed to put aside past grievances and work toward healing a 40-year schism.

The Hungarian church split in 1975 amid a protest by young pastors and other members over local church leaders’ collaboration with the Council of Free Churches, a body formed to represent the common interests of small Protestant denominations that later become a tool of the communist state.
