Many Christians would not want to be caught dead in a bar. But a group of Jamaican Adventists spent four weeks in a bar — not drinking, smoking, or dancing but praising the Lord.
The Duncans Adventist Church organized an evangelistic series in the Logwood Walk Community rum bar after a long search for a suitable venue for the meetings in rural northwest Jamaicia.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Jamaica has joined the government and other interest groups in supporting the need for special support and accommodation for the disabled with a special declaration made this weekend.
The declaration, the first to be made in the Adventist World Church, was made during a Special Needs Summit hosted by the church from March 6-8, 2015 at Camp Verley, St. Catherine.

Three of Montemorelos University’s media center employees traveled to Papua New Guinea earlier this year to participate in an initiative led by the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s official television network Hope Channel. The initiative was to produce some 303 television episodes in preparation for the launch of the country’s first free-to-air Christian television channel.

The Society of Adventist Communicators (SAC) Interamérica announced the winners of its various categories during a short ceremony held at the Inter-American Division headquarters, Mar. 5, 2015, in Miami, Florida. More than 60 communicators and media production specialists listened in as SAC Interamérica President Angela Barrios highlighted the society’s mission.
As an initiative of the communication department, in conjunction with the Society of Adventist Communicators of North America, the SAC Interamérica chapter strives to bring communicators and interested professionals together in supporting the mission of the church, said Barrios.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America is preparing to embark on one of its most ambitious evangelism initiatives with the launch of three new satellite channels to broadcast across its populous territory.
The new channels will join the family of the church’s Hope Channel television network around the world in sharing the message of hope and salvation in the three major languages spoken in the Inter-American Division (IAD), Spanish, English, and French.

The Philippines has granted approval for an Adventist medical school to begin classes in August, making it the first Adventist medical school in Asia and the denomination’s sixth medical school worldwide.
The Commission on Higher Education of the Philippines in December approved the opening of the Adventist University of the Philippines’ College of Medicine, located on campus in Silang in the province of Cavite.

Seventh-day Adventist churches are springing up around the world at the fastest rate in the denomination’s 152-year history, with a new building opening its doors to worshipers every 3.58 hours, according to newly released figures.
A record 2,446 new churches opened last year, helping fuel the largest single-year increase in membership and bringing total membership to nearly 18.5 million, according to the Office of Archives, Statistics, and Research.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in North Mexico wants to make sure its special needs church members can better access its church facilities and be included in activities throughout its 10 local church regions.
More than 120 church pastors, elders laypersons as well as persons with disabilities, convened during a recent summit in Montemorelos, Mexico, to discuss this need and to strategize about how to cater to dozens of its members with special needs.

Thirty inmates were baptized at a Togo prison chapel built by the Seventh-day Adventist Church after prison officials asked for help replacing a previous chapel that collapsed in bad weather.
The inmates took their stand for Jesus during a special dedication ceremony at the main prison in Lomé, the bustling capital of the sub-Saharan African country, Church leaders said Friday.

CNN television is featuring Loma Linda University and the surrounding Seventh-day Adventist community in southern California on a program about how to live a longer, healthier life.
The 30-minute program, “Vital Signs with Dr. Sanjay Gupta,” is being broadcast on CNN International throughout February and tackles the question, “What can one do to live a healthier, happier, and longer life?”
