In Colombia, Adventist students are challenged to be missionaries in their secular university campuses

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Colombia asserted hundreds of its members studying across public campuses and working professionals of their value and role in becoming disciples of Christ during a three-day event held in Chachipay, Cundinamarca, Sep. 4-6, 2015.

Some 300 university students from 35 universities were challenged to become missionaries by developing leadership skills, committing to evangelism and serving the church, the community, and their campuses. In addition, 150 Adventist professionals also participated in the training.

In North Mexico, Adventist Hospital coordinates over 500 eye surgeries in five days

More than 520 low-income individuals from Nuevo Leon, Mexico, received eye surgeries thanks to a joint collaboration between La Carlota Adventist Hospital, the non-profit organization Medical Ministry International and a group of Christian ophthalmologists from the United States.

Patients crowded the Vision Institute Center in La Carlota Hospital, located in Montemorelos, Mexico, last month to benefit from the five-day medical initiative.

New Adventist School in Puerto Rico triples enrollment

Seventh-day Adventists in eastern Puerto Rico are beaming with joy at the growth of its newest school on the island of Vieques–an island-municipality of the commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

Vieques Adventist Academy began its second school year last month, with 47 students, an amount triple the number enrolled in the school last year when the school began as a pilot project with 15 students, church leaders said.

In Colombia, first Adventist Church is organized at a public university

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in North Colombia recently celebrated a newly organized church on the campus of a public university in the State of Antioquia, in North Colombia.

Church administrators and leaders boasted about the importance of organizing the first church on a public campus in the territory and the country, during a special ceremony on Aug. 8, 2015.

Church holds first territory-wide youth congress in the English Caribbean in 42 years

Hundreds of Seventh-day Adventist youth in the Caribbean Union region packed their bags and traveled to Castries, in the island of St. Lucia to participate in a historic territory-wide youth congress from Jul. 29 to Aug. 1, 2015.

Nearly 1,000 young people were challenged to continue being a powerful generation in serving the church and their communities everywhere they go. It was the first such island-wide event held since 1973, organizers said.

Church in St. Maarten rally to celebrate banner year in evangelism

Hundreds of Seventh-day Adventists in St. Maarten gathered for the church’s annual lay evangelism rally to celebrate the growth in baptisms this year, which more than doubled from last year.

The more than 800 laypersons, or active church members, from across the seven church congregations on the island met at Cole Bay, St. Maarten, on Aug. 1, 2015, to report on evangelistic activities, receive further training, honor outstanding laypersons and participate in a witness march across.

In East Venezuela, Adventists engage in historic week-long multi-city impact

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Caracas, Venezuela, mobilized thousands of its church members to bring a smile, share hope, beautify parks, and offer assistance to scores of people across streets and communities in the eastern part of the country on Aug. 1-9, 2015. It was the third such event in as many years.

Church leaders are calling it the most comprehensive community outreach to take place in Caracas and 28 other eastern cities in the country. More than 12,000 volunteers took time off from their jobs and daily schedules to touch the lives of more than 200,000 individuals.

First Adventist pastor appointed chaplain of the Jamaica Constabulary Force

Pastor Gary Anthony Buddoo-Fletcher, former executive secretary in North Jamaica is the new Force Chaplain of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

His appointment was made official and announced by Commissioner of Police Dr. Carl Williams to the JCF Executive Management Board in Kingston on August 3, 2015.

In Saint Kitts, Adventist youth march against crime-ridden community

Hundreds of Seventh-day Adventists joined government officials in the Caribbean island of St. Kitts last month to march against the escalating crime wave in the Cayon Community.

More than 300 church members from nine Adventist congregations denounced crime by encouraging onlookers to have love for each other, put away guns, keep the Ten Commandments, and join together in the fight against violence. Other groups also took part in the march and rally that was organized by the Island Council.

In Guatemala, church sees dramatic growth in Adventist communication

The Adventist communication system in Guatemala is dramatically growing thanks to the generous contributions made by thousands of Seventh-day Adventists who have committed to furthering the message of hope during the past five years in the Central American country, local church leaders said.

President of the Church in Guatemala Guenther Garcia said the result of the explosive growth in Adventist communication is due in part to the vision promoted by the world church to find new evangelism strategies to reach the post-modern minds across cities.
