Seventh-day Adventist leaders and staff of the Inter-American Division (IAD) headquarter office took time this week to reflect on the blessings 2016 brought to the church across the territory and looked on blessings ahead despite the challenges the new year may bring.
The nearly 100 leaders and staff met in Miami, Florida, Jan. 3, to pray together, review church and financial growth in 2016, and touched on initiatives and activities aimed at sharing the gospel across cities and communities this year.

When she heard her name called as the winner of this year’s Bible Boom competition, disbelief came over her face. Then tears rolled down her cheeks as reality set in.
Zarith Méndez of North Colombia was declared the winner of Inter-American Division (IAD) Bible Boom competition and given the Caleb Award Title Trophy for 2016. At 15 years of age and the youngest Bible Boom winner in the 13-year history of the territory-wide competition, she stood in front of thousands of Seventh-day Adventists in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic, Saturday, Dec. 10, hardly able to control her emotions.

Zarith Méndez of the North Colombia region took the top spot as the Bible Boom grand prize winner today during Inter-America’s territory-wide Bible competition held in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic.
Méndez with a score of 450 points, beat 20 other regional finalists in the 13th such annual event held across the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America. She answered 45 questions in 3:56 minutes.

In just a few hours, Inter-America’s final Bible Boom event will host its annual bible quiz competition in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic.
The program is scheduled to begin today at 4:30 p.m. Santo Domingo Time or 3:30 p.m. Miami Time, and will be streamed live online on Youth IAD Facebook page, Jovenes DIA in front of a 4,000 audience at the Polideportivo Complex in the Central East University Campus.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America provided newly appointed church administrators from the territory’s major church regions, or unions, local fields, and institutions a special online orientation yesterday to assist them as they lead and make decisions for the fulfillment of the work in the Inter-American division territory.
The one-day training session of November 30, 2016, falls under the IAD’s Segment Leaders Development (SeLD) program and focused primarily on those who serve on committees and boards, organizers said.

Newly appointed Seventh-day Adventist administrators from Inter-America’s major church regions, or unions, and local fields will receive leadership development training this year through a live online program on Nov. 30, 2016. The one-day training session coined as Segment Leader Development (or SeLD) will provide orientation to not only high level regional administrators but will be open to leaders across institutions, schools and local church boards, organizers said.

Twenty-four finalists representing Inter-America’s church territories will compete one last time this year for the Bible Boom title on Dec. 10, 2016. The finalists will travel to the Dominican Republic to test their knowledge of the books of Joshua, Judges, Ruth, and Chapters 1-12 of Ellen G. White’s Patriarch’s and Prophets.
The event becomes the 13th annual territory-wide Bible bowl competition initiative that has engaged thousands of young people across thousands of churches to dive into assigned Bible books to strengthen their spiritual life, youth ministries leaders say.

A group of media production specialists from across Seventh-day Adventist media centers throughout the Inter-American Division (IAD) met this week during a cinematography workshop hosted by Hope Channel Inter-America.
The three-day event sought to engage professionals to sharpen their skills, dive into creating documentary short films, network as a team, and commit to sharing the hope in Jesus in every message they create and share for the millions of viewers living in the territory.

Top Seventh-day Adventist administrators and church leaders from the Inter-American Division (IAD) concluded their annual year-end business meetings this week. They looked at the membership and financial growth of the IAD’s 24 major church regions so far this year. The more than 100 leaders representing the 44 countries and islands in the IAD gathered for the final two days of meetings in San Salvador, El Salvador, held Oct. 29-30, 2016.

Getting more members involved in the mission of the church was one central point top level Seventh-day Adventist leaders in Inter-America focused on as day one of church business meetings began yesterday in Miami, Florida. The Year-End Executive Committee meetings, which took place via conference from the Inter-American Division (IAD) Headquarters, connected church leaders from across the 24 unions, or church regions, to vote on plans, initiatives, and activities for the next months and years.
