HFU outlines in-depth plans to expand and train local church leaders

Herbert Fletcher University, Inter-America’s Seventh-day Adventist online distance learning educational institution, revealed its comprehensive plans to provide certification training to church leaders while final academic recognition is pending. The plans were outlined during the institution’s first board meeting of the new quinquennium, which was held Nov. 2, 2015, in Miami, Florida.

IATS celebrates its success, votes in new leadership

Inter-America’s Theological Seminary (IATS) leaders celebrated the success of graduating hundreds of ministers with master’s degrees from its various programs during the past 12 years. Hope Channel Inter-America schedules its official launch for July 2016

Top Seventh-day Adventist leaders in Inter-America voted to launch Hope Channel Inter-America’s three channels in the coming months after approving the comprehensive budget that will drive the most ambitious television evangelism initiative ever undertaken in the vast territory.

The approval came as more than 140 church administrators accepted next year’s budget of the channel on Nov. 2, during the weeklong church’s executive committee meetings held in Miami, Florida.

Inter-America’s top leadership reaffirms the church’s vote on ordination

Top Seventh-day Adventist leaders from the Inter-American Division (IAD) took a vote to reaffirm the decision of the Annual Council regarding the General Conference Session Vote on Ordination, during day seven of the church’s business meetings, held Oct. 27 to Nov. 3, in Miami, Florida.

The more than 140 committee members representing the 24 unions or regions across Inter-America read over the document and agreed with the church’s decision to reaffirm the role of women.

Less large events and more regional activities will take place in Inter-America

In the interest of reducing costs and focusing on events and activities in local areas, top executive leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America voted to a approve several division-wide activities in 2016 that will set the tone for the next five years.

Some 140 members of the Inter-American Division’s (IAD) Year-End Committee agreed to travel less, videoconference more and organize more regional activities to accomplish the strategic and evangelism plans in the territory.

Inter-America moves forward despite weak currencies

“We must move forward,” said Inter-American Division Treasurer Filiberto Verduzco yesterday during his report to the executive body of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America in Miami, Florida.

Moving forward, amid the pressing weak currency challenges the IAD territory faces, is the only option, said Verduzco.

In Inter-America, ongoing territory-wide audit adjusts total membership; 690,000 names removed from books

In his report to the Inter-American Division (IAD) Executive Committee, Executive Secretary Elie Henry reported on the growth of the Seventh-day Adventist Church among its 24 unions or church regions. 1,046,766 new members were added from Jan. 2010 to Jun. 2015, but there was a drop of more than 690,000 members due to auditing of church books, which began across the territory in 2012.

In Inter-America, leadership to vote on comprehensive strategies and initiatives for the next five years

Seventh-day Adventist top administrators and leaders from across the church in the Inter-American Division (IAD) will gather for year-end meetings in Miami, Florida, next week to vote on comprehensive strategies and initiatives for the next five years.

“The Inter-American Division is a great division,” said Pastor Israel Leito, president of the church in Inter-America as he spoke to church leaders during a strategic planning meeting earlier this week.
