Educators at the Loma Linda University School of Public Health are working to strengthen the management of Seventh-day Adventist hospitals in Latin America through a healthcare leadership development program that was created to strengthen administrative oversite in the region.
A certificate program — which is also sponsored by Adventist Health International, the denomination’s Inter-American Division, and Montemorelos University in Mexico — is focused on healthcare leaders in the region who have backgrounds in business, education, finance or ministry, but lack formal education in healthcare administration.

The Hiranuma & Hayashi Foundation, a nonprofit organization, opened the “Cheon Ae Garden” new welfare center in Chungju, Korea, with a special dedication service on June 3. Up to seven mothers can stay at a residence in the center, which is equipped with a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom, and a playroom. Mothers and children who need help can be safely protected within the premises.

Activities organized by an informal stargazing club have led to dozens of people requesting Bible studies in Ukraine. From June 30 to July 2, visitors to a “Generation Strong” event in Teplyk, Vinnytsia Region, answered astronomy quizzes, took part in informative lectures and lined up for telescope observation sessions of the moon, Jupiter, and Saturn. Guests were also provided with science-based facts, many of whom suggest the presence of intelligent design in the universe.

study by researchers from the Loma Linda University School of Public Health and the Czech Republic has found that the timing and frequency of meals play a role in predicting weight loss or gain.
Using information gleaned from more than 50,000 participants in the Adventist Health Study-2 (AHS-2), researchers discovered four factors associated with a decrease in body mass index: eating only one or two meals per day; maintaining an overnight fast of up to 18 hours; eating breakfast instead of skipping it; and making breakfast or lunch the largest meal of the day. Making breakfast the largest meal yielded a more significant decrease in Body Mass Index (BMI) than did lunch.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the new It Is Written ministry headquarters was held on July 10. More than 300 attended the event that took place in Collegedale, Tennessee, United States.
The groundbreaking ceremony featured It Is Written representatives, local government and business leaders, and Seventh-day Adventist Church leadership, including North American Division (NAD) President Dan Jackson, NAD Vice President of Media Gordon Pifher, Georgia-Cumberland Conference President Ed Wright, and Collegedale City Mayor Katie Lamb.

Seventh-day Adventists teachers and church ministerial leaders from across North-America attending the Faith & Science Conference in St. George, Utah, until July 14, are pointing out how informative they are finding the event presentations.

More than 330 Seventh-day Adventist science teachers and ministerial leaders in North America (NAD) braved scorching summer temperatures to make their way to the city of St. George, in southwest Utah, United States, for a region-wide Faith & Science Conference, which kicked off on the evening of July 6. The event, which carries the theme “Affirming Creation,” is sponsored by several church organizations interested in the study and promotion of a biblical understanding of origins, including the NAD Office of Education, the world church’s Faith & Science Council, and the Geoscience Research Institute (GRI).

A nation-wide drive to bring physical and spiritual healing saw Seventh-day Adventist members in Uganda reach over 3,000 sites in the last two weeks. Adventist-sponsored activities offered Bible studies and free medical camps, which are garnering the praise and support of local governments in that African nation.
Medical camps in Uganda follow the principles of Total Member Involvement (TMI), a plan by the world church that encourages every church member to take on an active role in ministering to others and sharing the good news of Jesus.

Called the Micra® Transcatheter Pacing System (TPS), this new type of heart device provides patients with the most advanced pacing technology at one-tenth the size of a traditional pacemaker.

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) International announced a new partnership with global water technology leader Grundfos last week, in a move to provide access to clean water to 1.5 million people in Africa, Asia, Central and South America, and South Pacific over the next five years. The partnership aims to improve and save lives by using renewable energy and water innovation technologies that provides more efficient and sustainable water access than more traditional methods.
